Mariola Edelmann
I started my research experience in the field of ubiquitin proteasome system and proteomics in the Wellcome Trust Centre for Human Genetics, Oxford University, UK. I worked at Oxford University as a research assistant in mass spectrometry and protein biochemistry for over four years and run a omics core.
I also completed my Ph.D. in Clinical Medicine at Oxford University, with my research interests being focused on protein deubiquitination, bacteria-derived kinase, protein mass spectrometry and host-pathogen interactions.
I now hold a junior tenure-track faculty position at the University of Florida. My current research primarily relates to the molecular aspects of the host-pathogen interactions during Gram-negative bacterial infections and inflammation. I am also interested in mass spectrometry-based proteomics, for instance finding new methods to quantify post-translational modifications and utilizing chemical biology methods to quantify and "annotate" enzymes in chicken.
Research Interest:
- protein turnover and ubiquitin proteasome system
- host-pathogen interactions (type three secretion system bacteria: Salmonella, Yersinia, Shigella)
- protein post-translational modifications (ubiquitination, phosphorylation, acetylation, methylation etc.) and their impact on protein function
- proteomics, chemical proteomics
- function of exosomes in inflammation
